What was the cause of the Woolsey fire? If a fire is a human caused fire, are the individuals prosecuted for starting the fire?

01:04:11
It would be nice to have the Chumash, originals peoples, to be acknowledged at the beginning of these environmental programs.. Thank you

01:04:34

How long will it take local watersheds to recover back to pre fire conditions and the threat of debris flows and flash floods to resolve?

01:15:17
@Mark from Joey- "@Mark, We've considered goats. However, they are quite expensive, ~$600 - $900 per acre and they aren't always selective in what they eat. I think it depends on the company. I pursued funds for a 6 acre area in Malibu but didn't get it. I met with a company last year. They mentioned that they are sometimes looking for a place to keep their goats in between jobs. That might be an option for us non-profits. Thx!"

01:19:05
When the speaker said treating the weeds, did he mean using pesticides?

01:25:02
@Melissa, It usually takes 5-10 years before the shrublands start to look like they did pre-fire. Yearly weather conditions can play a big part.

01:26:33
@Saul, We use multiple treatment methods for controlling weeds including chemical (herbicide). We also use mechanical, manual and cultural controls (revegetation).

01:28:50
in regards to the question on planting oaks along the trail...

01:29:03
"Many of the oaks at Cheeseboro were planted by a volunteer over many years. Those may be the oaks you're referring to. He has very high loss of his plantings but he's planted so many over the years that many have survived. His strategy is to plant a lot to account for loss. The oaks NPS is planting are clear of trails, to my knowledge. Thx"

01:33:59
@Joey Have you looked at using prescribed burns followed by reseeding in order to regenerate California growth such as the work that Michael Connoly Miskwish is doing who is a tribal member of the Campo Kumeeyaay Nation.

01:35:42
Since Preventing fire starts would be the most proactive action, are any of the agencies trying new things to prevent these manmade starts?
